Sligo University Hospital has introduced two new maternal wellbeing initiatives to support new mothers and mothers-to-be in the hospital.

While visiting restrictions remain in place at Sligo University Hospital due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital is very aware of the impact that this has on patients and their families, friends and neighbours.

Technology connecting families in ICU in University Hospital Galway

University Hospital Galway (UHG) has introduced a new video call system known as ICU FamilyLink which will enable contact between families, patients and the clinical teams providing care. This is particularly important as currently visitors are not permitted in the hospital, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Update for women attending the Maternity Department at Sligo University Hospital

A number of changes in how patients access Sligo University Hospital were put in place this week. This is to ensure that patients who need to attend the hospital can do so safely during the current COVID-19 public health emergency.

Since Monday (06 April), the main entrance of the hospital has moved from the current location at the front of the hospital, to the Outpatient Department Entrance on the Mall Road. This entrance will be open from 8am to 9pm every day.

Visiting restrictions continue at Letterkenny University Hospital

Management at Letterkenny University Hospital is reminding the public that strict visiting restrictions remain in place across the hospital in an effort to protect vulnerable patients and health care staff. Across the hospital visiting is only allowed in end of life circumstances and following discussion with the nursing manger on duty.

Update in relation to services at Galway University Hospitals

Galway University Hospitals would like to remind the public that all inpatient and day cases remain cancelled at the hospital apart from urgent, time critical procedures.   Outpatient clinics are also currently cancelled with a very limited number of exceptions. Patients whose procedures or appointments are going ahead are being contacted directly by telephone and advised to attend.
