The Paediatric Diabetes Service at Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH) has changed the way it delivers outpatient appointments as a result of COVID-19 thanks to innovative ‘virtual clinics’ that provide access to the service instead of the traditional face-to-face appointment, at a time when social and physical distancing remains important.
Mr Liam McMullin, Consultant General Surgeon has retired from Roscommon University Hospital following 17 years of excellent and committed service to the hospital.
Saolta Arts and Galway 2020 are pleased to present Viriditas by Ceara Conway as part of The Deepest Shade of Green, an Arts and Health programme for Galway’s European Capital of Culture 2020. A University Hospital Galway Medical Consultant has developed a “Clinical Pass” smartphone app to allow healthcare students across the region to undertake clinical placement. Prof Derek O’Keeffe Consultant Physician University Hospital Galway, working with colleagues in the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in NUI Galway and Renville Informatics has developed a smartphone based Clinical Pass App to facilitate clinical placement for health care students.
The Saolta University Health Care Group has now made the independent Review of the Gynaecology Service (with a particular focus on post-menopausal bleeding pathways) at Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) available to patients or families of patients where delays were identified in the provision of their care.
Mayo University Hospital is delighted to announce that upgrade works to A Ward, B Ward and the Paediatric Ward are due to commence on 17 August. The works involve replacing and upgrading the windows on these wards and replacing all the toilets and showers on A Ward and B Ward. The works are due to be completed by the end of October.
Clinical teams at Galway University Hospitals have delivered over 36,000 virtual outpatient consultations since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The team at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) are continuing to work towards the resumption of services which had paused or were restricted over the last number of months due to COVID-19.
As part of this work, the Radiology Department are putting measures in place to ensure that patients can access plain radiography/ ‘x-ray’, MRI, CT, Ultrasound and other diagnostic and interventional procedures in a safe way.
