Local company Fort Wayne Metals reached out to management at Mayo University Hospital in April during the COVID-19 pandemic, to offer practical support and help. Through a series of calls and video conferences, the hospital was able to access a wide range of knowledge around process and quality improvement. The initial work included a brainstorming session that ultimately led to the establishment of an internal Champions Team, consisting of staff from a range of jobs in the hospital.

Sligo University Hospital has recently upgraded three paediatric inpatient rooms following generous funding from a number of national and local charities and individual donations. The rooms now have profiling beds, Smart TVs with DVD players, hundreds of child-friendly movies, colourful wall murals, cardiac monitors, child friendly wardrobes, PlayStations and a Nintendo Switch.
