Remembrance Prayer Service at Sligo University Hospital

Sligo University Hospital (SUH) is inviting parents and their families who have experienced bereavement, through the death of a baby or child or who have experienced pregnancy loss, to a Remembrance Prayer Service which will take place in the hospital on Wednesday 20 November at 7.30pm.

The HSE has this week published the National Winter Plan 2019-20 providing for funding of €26m nationally to support the HSE to manage the known increase in demand the health service will face over the winter months. Of this, €6.8m has been allocated to hospital and community services across the country to allow for specific local initiatives to improve patient care.

Galway University Hospitals to hold free Men’s Health Information Evening

Galway University Hospitals (GUH) will hold a men’s health information evening as part of Movember Men’s health awareness month on 20 November in the Maldron Hotel, Sandy Road, Galway from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Men and their partners are welcome to attend the information evening which is free of charge.

The evening will focus on increasing awareness and providing information on the specific health needs of men and to encourage them to think about their health and lifestyle behaviours.

Roscommon University Hospital (RUH) won Saolta Staff Recognition Awards in two categories at a ceremony in Mayo on Friday evening.

The Rapid Access Haematuria Service Team won the Award for ‘Award for Innovation in a Clinical Area’ and the ‘Outstanding Employee Award’ was presented to Noreen Fallon, Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Galway University Hospitals won Saolta Staff Recognition Awards in three categories at a ceremony in Mayo on Friday evening.

The Maternity Department won the ‘Award for Innovation in a Non Clinical Area’ for their work on a maternity website, the ‘Quality Improvement and Patient Experience Award’ was presented to the Patient Flow Improvement Team and the ‘Outstanding Employee Award’ was given to Catherine Cunniffe who works in the bed management office.

To celebrate World Prematurity Day 2019, the staff from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital Galway will be hosting an event in the main foyer of the hospital on Friday 15 November from 09.30am to 2pm.

The Speech and Language Department at Galway University Hospitals (GUH) is taking part in a worldwide launch of a new grading system for modified diets/fluids for people with Dysphagia, which is the medical term for swallowing difficulties.

Bereavement Information and Awareness Event at Sligo University Hospital

Sligo University Hospital is holding a Bereavement Information and Awareness Event in the main foyer of the hospital on Wednesday 06 November from 10 am to 2.30pm.

This is the fourth year that the event has taken place in the hospital and it is open to members of the public and staff of the hospital.
