The Children's Remembrance Day Committee, University Hospital Galway is inviting parents and their families who have experienced the death of a child before birth, shortly after birth or at a later stage to remember their loved ones in a special Mass of Remembrance, which will take place on Sunday 18 May in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Oranmore.
A booklet outlining the work of Registered and candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioners (RANP and ANPc) and Registered and candidate Advanced Midwife Practitioners (RAMP and ANMPc) working at Galway University Hospitals and at other hospitals in the West, along with RANPs working in Community Health Services, was launched in Galway recently.

The two family rooms in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in University Hospital Galway have been recently refurbished for use by the families of those who have loved ones receiving treatment in the unit. The refurbishment of these rooms was carried out by Máire Ní Bhriain and the family and friends of her late daughter, Sadhbh Ní Bhrádaigh.

The Surgical Gynaecology Unit, Sligo Regional Hospital, was awarded first prize in the International category of the Lean Healthcare Awards UK, held in Leeds recently for their Productive Ward Project, 'Room to Care'. The unit was short-listed over several hundred applicants from hospitals internationally and was awarded first prize in a ceremony in the UK last month.
Galway University Hospitals recently held a very successful oesophageal cancer awareness day in the foyer of UHG. At the information day, Clinical Nurse Specialists in Upper GI Cancer and Colorectal Cancer met with members of the public to discuss concerns and to answer questions.
The Emergency Department at Letterkenny Hospital will re-open to patients on Wednesday 12 March at 8am.
Mr Sean Murphy, General Manager, Letterkenny General Hospital said, “I would like to advise all patients that the work to rebuild the Emergency Department and the Acute Medical Assessment Unit following the flood last July has been completed and both Departments will re-open next Wednesday.
