Menu of Poems to Celebrate Poetry Day Ireland on Thursday 28 April

Imelda May’s Stargazer Selected for ‘Menu of Poems’ for patients and staff of Irish hospitals for Poetry Day Ireland 

To celebrate Poetry Day Ireland on Thursday 28 April, a Menu of Poems will be distributed throughout Irish hospital wards, waiting rooms and other healthcare settings for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy. The poetry was selected by Galway poet Rita Ann Higgins, who was asked to include a poem of her own.

Parents’ Room in the Neonatal Unit at University Hospital Galway

The Neonatal Unit at University Hospital Galway has recently upgraded a room which is used by parents who have to travel long distances from home to see their babies who are undergoing intensive care treatment.

BowelScreen, part of the National Screening Service, today announces that Mayo University Hospital (MUH) is now performing colonoscopies on behalf of the programme.

Sligo Vaccination Centre is moving to Nazareth House, Sligo

The Sligo Vaccination Centre is moving from the Racecourse location to a temporary vaccination centre in Nazareth House, HSE, Church Hill, Sligo (F91 A243) this week.

The first vaccine clinic will take place in the new centre on Friday 15 April.

Update on Access for Visitors to Mayo University Hospital

Access for visitors to Mayo University Hospital will resume from Monday 11 April.

Access for visitors will be by appointment only. Patients identify who they would like to visit and staff then telephone the nominated support person and offer a time slot.

Limited visiting access due to COVID-19

Our hospitals are dealing with outbreaks of COVID-19 affecting a number of wards. We will only allow visits to these wards on an exceptional basis, and on compassionate grounds. To arrange a visit, please contact the ward manager.

Final COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at Roscommon Vaccination Centre

On Sunday 27 March the final COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held in the Roscommon Vaccination Centre on the Golf Links Road in Roscommon Town.

Remembrance and Recognition Exhibition in Galway University Hospitals

Staff working in University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital have contributed to an evocative exhibition,  sharing their thoughts and reflections on the COVID-19 pandemic. The exhibition is on display in the Arts Corridors in UHG and in Merlin Park until the end of April.

Mayo University Hospital appeals to public to minimise COVID-19 spread

Mayo University Hospital is appealing to the public not to visit the hospital if they have any signs of COVID-19 or Flu.

Due to the increasing numbers of COVID-19 attendances at the hospital, the public is asked to limit visiting and remain vigilant while on site.

Visitors will be required to wear a high quality surgical mask and use the hand gel regularly during their visit to the hospital.
