Mayo University Hospital is hosting an event in the main foyer on Tuesday 28 March between 10am and 2pm to promote the various initiatives across the hospital that aim to improve patients’ experience through engagement with patients and their families.

The Saolta University Health Care Group recently held its 8th Neonatal Study Day Conference at the Clayton Hotel in Galway. Over 100 delegates from the Saolta Group and other hospitals attended.

Construction of new Outpatients Department underway at Merlin Park University Hospital

Galway University Hospitals (GUH) is delighted to announce that phase one of the construction of the new Outpatients Department at Merlin Park University Hospital commenced at the end of February.

The development will include a two-storey Outpatients Department (OPD) with parking spaces, bicycle parking, pedestrian footpaths, lighting and associated signage and landscaping. The total cost of OPD phase one is €15.50m.

Letterkenny University Hospital is extremely busy today with long wait times at the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at Letterkenny University Hospital is under significant pressure today with high attendances and long waiting times. A record number of 194 patients attended the Emergency Department in last 24 hours.

Sligo University Hospital opens new Intensive Care Unit Extension

Sligo University Hospital has opened a new 290 square metre extension to the Intensive Care Unit.  The extension consists of a single storey building adjacent to the existing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) comprising four ensuite isolation rooms with associated facilities. 

Kenny Family presents cheque for €40,500 to University Hospital Galway

A very generous donation of €40,500 was recently presented to the Intensive Care Unit and the Patient Comfort Fund at University Hospital Galway (UHG) in memory of the late Mary Kenny from Loughrea, Co Galway. In addition, €5,000 was donated to Strange Boat Donor Foundation – The National Organ Donor Commemorative Garden (Circle of Life) located in Galway, and €2,000 to Quest Brain Injury Services, Galway.

Mayo University Hospital thanks Dermot Flanagan and friends for donation of €55,000

Mayo University Hospital (MUH) is delighted to receive a donation €55,000 which was fundraised by Dermot Flanagan, team mates and friends for cancer services in the hospital.

Dermot is a former Mayo captain and GAA all star, member of the 1989, 1996 and 1997 senior football teams, and proud Ballaghadereen native. He was motivated to undertake the fundraiser after undergoing treatment for non-Hodgkins lymphoma (a type of blood cancer) a number of years ago.
