Deferral of procedure and appointments at Saolta hospitals

The hospitals in the Saolta Group are deferring all but very urgent and time critical inpatient and day surgery from 05 January. Outpatient clinics will also be curtailed and some of these will take place virtually unless it is absolutely necessary for patients to be seen.

Portiuncula University Hospital rolls out COVID-19 vaccination programme

The roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign began in Portiuncula University Hospital today, Wednesday January 6th. Louise Ann McGrath, Clinical Nurse Manager 2, St John’s Ward was the first staff member in the hospital to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine. Louise received the vaccine from her nursing colleague, Mary Barrett, Assistant Director of Nursing and Peer Vaccinator.

The roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign began in Roscommon University Hospital on Wednesday January 6th. Dr Gerry O’Mara, Consultant Physician was the first staff member in the hospital to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine.

Letterkenny University Hospital administers its first dose of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine

The roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign began in Letterkenny University Hospital today, Wednesday January 6th. Lorraine Guthrie, Clinical Nurse Manager 2 from Medical 5 was the first staff member in the hospital to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine. Lorraine received the vaccine from her nursing colleague Virginia Murray.

Galway University Hospitals (University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital) are deferring all but very urgent and time critical inpatient and day surgery from tomorrow January 5th. Outpatient clinics will also be cancelled however some of these will take place virtually unless it is absolutely necessary for patients to be seen.

Lorna Quinn Assistant Director of Nursing and one of the peer vaccinators who will deliver the COVID-19 vaccine to staff based in University Hospital Galway was the first staff member in the hospital and the Saolta Group to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine.
