Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust named on shortlist for 2018 GSK Ireland IMPACT Awards

Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust named as part of 2018 GSK Ireland IMPACT Awards shortlist. The GSK IMPACT Awards programme recognises and rewards Ireland’s “unsung healthcare heroes” who make a real difference to health and wellbeing in their locality. Five winners will receive €10,000 funding each, while five runner-up charities receive €2,000 each.

Afternoon Tea in the Garden to benefit the arts programme at GUH

Afternoon Tea is being held at the home of Phyllis MacNamara on Sunday June 24th from 3-6pm to benefit the arts programme at Galway University Hospitals. It is a ticketed event with a maximum capacity of 100 people at a cost of €50 per person. On arrival guests will be offered a refreshing glass of homemade lemonade or prosecco. Guests are free to wander the beautiful surroundings with the garden being in full bloom.

UHG to hold special mass of remembrance

The Children's Remembrance Day Committee, University Hospital Galway is inviting parents and their families who have experienced the death of a child before birth, shortly after birth or at a later stage to remember their loved ones in a special Mass of Remembrance, which will take place on Sunday 27 May in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Westside, Galway at 2.30pm.

The Maternity Whose Shoes Experience

Over 50 people recently attended the Whose Shoes event which was hosted by the Maternity Unit, UHG and facilitated by Croi. This was the first Whose Shoes event to be held in Ireland. The idea behind Whose Shoes is to facilitate discussion on topics related to personalisation in health and social services.

The event included members of the public, volunteer groups, obstetric and neonatal consultants, midwives both local and National and allied health care professionals.

Kaizen 3, 90 Day Report

The Final Kaizen 3, 90 Day Report was out this Tuesday.

Kaizen 3 focused on Ward Quality Improvements within GUH, this was the first out of three Kaizen’s that was GUH led.

There were over 90 opportunities identified on this Project which was Multidisciplinary led. National Attendees attended all the Kaizen 3 Report outs, this being the final 90 Day report out.
The Kaizen Team will now be sustaining all the great work achieved on this very successful project.
