Letterkenny University Hospital's Junction Restaurant has attained the prestigious Happy Heart Healthy Eating Award from the Irish Heart Foundation. In order to achieve this, an independent catering audit was undertaken by Irish Heart Foundation Dietitian, Regina Rattigan.
Roscommon University Hospital recently held their first ever Employee Excellence Awards. The purpose of these awards which was officially launched on 07 February by Saolta Group CEO, Maurice Power, is to acknowledge the contribution of hospital staff in the delivery of a high quality patient-centred health service. After 44 years of service in the Catering Department at Roscommon University Hospital, Helen Hunt has finally hung up her apron.
Helen Hunt from Four Mile House, County Roscommon joined the Catering Department back in 1974 as a catering assistant, and it wasn’t before long she took up the position of chef where she demonstrated her excellent cookery skills, triumph in her dedication and commitment to her new role.

The Murphy Family from Kiltoom, County Roscommon recently presented a cheque in memory of their late father Mr Gerry Murphy, RIP to Palliative Care Services, Roscommon University Hospital. The donation of €1,500 was in recognition of the support and care Mr Murphy received during his time in Roscommon University Hospital.
Kiltoom Drama Group also made a donation of €2,000 in memory of the late Mr Gerry Murphy, who was a founding member of Kiltoom Drama Group.
University Hospital Galway is asking people to comply with visitor restrictions on St Anthony’s ward and St Mary’s ward due to a number of suspected cases of the vomiting bug (Norovirus). In order to assist staff in curtailing the spread of this virus, it is imperative that only essential visiting takes place during this period. Children should not visit the hospital as they may be particularly susceptible to the illness.
