In response to feedback from last year’s National Patient Experience Survey, Roscommon University Hospital has introduced a number of new initiatives to enhance the patients’ experience at the hospital. These include a new Patient Information Booklet and Folder and Patient Comfort Packs.
To celebrate and mark International Men’s Health Week, the Research & Education Foundation at Sligo University Hospital hosted a free Men’s Health and Wellbeing event at the Sligo Park Hotel this week.

Martina Cleary from Glenamaddy visited UHG this week to present a cheque for €4,250 to the Oncology Unit. Martina was a patient in the Oncology Unit in 2012 and has been generously supporting the unit ever since. The money was raised at a County Music Night in April, the fifth Country Music Night that Martina and her dad Joe Cunniffe have arranged, raising over €21,000 in total for the unit since 2013.
Cody is a 6 year old Golden Retriever who lives a normal life like any other dog…mostly. Once a week, he puts on his Irish Therapy Dog uniform and trots through the door of the ICU in Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH), where his calming and comforting influence is felt in abundance.
