The Emergency Department at Mayo University Hospital is extremely busy and experiencing higher than normal attendances. Yesterday 132 patients attended the Emergency Department, there are currently 50 new attendances today with 10 patients on trolleys awaiting admission to an in-patient bed.
A unique breastfeeding clinic designed to support mothers who are having difficulty breastfeeding has won two Irish Healthcare Centre Awards. The ‘Well Baby Breastfeeding Clinic’ in Galway won Best Community Outpatient Initiative of the year and Clinical Team of the year at an awards ceremony in May.

The very talented staff of Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) hosted a variety show at An Grianán Theatre over two nights on May 19th and 20th. The CryoNerve blocking probe delivers liquid nitrogen at a temperature of around -190 degrees from the tip of the device during invasive surgery.
The Emergency Department in Sligo University Hospital (SUH) has been extremely busy over the past few days and the hospital is advising that patients who attend ED for routine and non-urgent treatment will experience very long waiting times. 143 people attended the ED yesterday, Thursday 08 June, resulting in 32 patients admissions.
As always, people who do require emergency care are encouraged to attend EDs where they will be prioritised.
