The aim of Student Vaccination Week is to enhance and promote COVID-19 vaccination uptake among young people as they start or go back to college this month and to ensure any students, who have not been vaccinated yet, including international students, have the option to be protected. Saolta are operating COVID-19 vaccine clinics in NUI Galway, Letterkenny IT and IT Sligo this week.
Walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics continue this week at centres across the West and North West. Anyone aged 12 upwards who needs a vaccine is invited to come to a walk-in clinic for either a first or second dose. Students in NUI Galway and IT Sligo are encouraged to attend a walk-in clinic on campus this week.

University Hospital Galway is extremely busy today with a significant number of patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED), many of whom remain in the ED awaiting a bed.
There is ongoing pressure on bed availability in the hospital and we regret that patients are currently experiencing long waiting times to be admitted from the ED to an acute bed in the hospital.
