Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust is celebrating three years of its dialysis art programme at Merlin Park University Hospital in a special partnership with NUI Galway for Galway International Arts Festival 2016. Since it was introduced in 2012, a prevalent source of inspiration for participants’ creative projects has been the West of Ireland and the exhibition takes this theme across two venues.

Health Study on Irish Farmers indicates a high prevalence of respiratory symptoms and lung function abnormalities

The Irish Farmers Lung Health Study, undertaken by Investigators from Galway University Hospital / Saolta University Health Care Group, was published recently in Respiratory Medicine. The study was prompted by the high prevalence of respiratory problems in farmers in other countries and by recent reports of increasing mortality rates within the Irish farming community.

2016 Health Service Excellence Awards West Showcase Event

On Wednesday 15th June at the Radisson Hotel Sligo a special celebration event was held to acknowledge the excellent work that is taking place throughout both the acute hospital sector and the community health services throughout the border and western counties from Donegal to Limerick.

Approximately 80 HSE staff attended the event, representing a total of 89 projects from the West who submitted applications to the 2016 Health Service Excellence Awards.

New Endoscopy Unit at Roscommon University Hospital opens today

Roscommon University Hospital is delighted to announce that patients will be attending the new endoscopy unit for procedures from today, 1st June 2016. 

The suite, located above the Urgent Care Centre, was built at a cost of over 5.5 million euro.
