Staff from Portiuncula University Hospital, led by the Antimcrobial Pharmacist Sabrina O Regan and the Pharmacy Department marked National Antibiotic Awareness Day. Information was provided to patients, staff and visitors on the appropriate use of antibiotics.

World COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Awareness Day takes place today, and to support this event the Respiratory team at Mayo University Hospital are holding an information day from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the main foyer of the hospital on Tuesday 24 November. Staff from Mayo University Hospital Respiratory Services will be on hand to answer your questions and help you to learn more about COPD.

Staff at Sligo University Hospital received two awards at the recent Saolta University Health Care Group Staff Recognition Awards which took place on Friday November 13 last at an event in the Sligo Park Hotel.  The Cardiac Diagnostics in the Community Project at the Hospital received the Quality Improvement Award while The Keepsake Tapestries for Bereaved Parents Programme was the winner of the award in the Innovation – Non Clinical category.

Staff at Mayo University Hospital received two awards at the recent Saolta University Health Care Group Staff Recognition Awards which took place on Friday November 13 last at an event in the Sligo Park Hotel. A group of staff from A Ward in the hospital who dealt with a fire earlier this year and ensured the safety of patients and staff received the ‘Unsung Hero’ Award.

'It’s all up in the air'- TULCA Festival of Visual Arts comes to University Hospital Galway

'It’s all up in the air' by Rhona Byrne, an installation comprising of balloons shaped into a sculpture and suspended from the ceiling of the main foyer of University Hospital Galway, as part of the programme for TULCA 2015 which runs from the 14-29 of November. Mary Cremin, this year’s curator chose the piece with a healthcare setting in mind which evolved from the theme of seachange.  The installation provokes thought and presents the audience with a complex set of emotions.
