Due to ongoing cases of flu, the visiting restrictions at Letterkenny University Hospital remain in place this week, including New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
The hospital is reminding members of the public not to visit the hospital.
The Emergency Department at Mayo University Hospital is extremely busy today, Monday 30 December. The hospital has admitted a lot of seriously ill patients over the last three days; some patients from yesterday remain in the Emergency Department (ED) awaiting an inpatient bed.

Sligo University Hospital (SUH) is delighted to introduce 21 new buddy beds to the Paediatric Department thanks to individual generous donations and a massive fundraising campaign by the local community.
Roscommon University Hospital in association with the hospital’s Patient Council and Patient Experience Committee have officially unveiled two new designated parking spaces for older people at the hospital.
The car parking spaces are located at the main entrance and will enable older people to park closer to the hospital and allow more convenient access with greater ease.
The newly upgraded X-ray suite at Roscommon University Hospital has been officially opened by Tony Canavan, CEO of the Saolta University Health Care Group. The project involved refurbishing the existing two X-ray rooms and an investment of over €465,000 in new digital equipment.
Sligo University Hospital has launched the ‘Little Journey’ virtual reality app to help young children between the ages of 3 and 12, to prepare for surgery and reduce their anxiety in advance of their hospital stay.
The ‘Little Journey’ app provides 360 degree views of all the areas the children will visit at the hospital as well as useful information about anaesthesiology tailored to the age of the child.
The visiting restrictions at Letterkenny University Hospital will remain in place this weekend (06-09 December).
