Mrs Sabina Higgins has this week officially launched Saolta Arts, the new name for Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust. Mrs Higgins also formally launched Offset, a new exhibition in University Hospital Galway.
The original arts programme was established in Galway University Hospitals (University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital) in 2003 to provide art events and activities for the hospital community.
The Maternity Unit at Letterkenny University Hospital is organising a remembrance art project for families who have lost a baby before, or shortly after birth.
In collaboration with HSE Create-A-Link, families are being invited to visit the Create-A-Link art studio on the Pearse Road, Letterkenny on Thursday 16 May anytime from 11.30am to 7pm to draw a snowdrop on a canvas which will be later displayed in the stairwell of the Maternity Unit.
As part of the many Halloween festivities happening around Galway City and County, Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust are excited to hold a special event to celebrate the spooky season for all staff and their children. A family friendly Halloween event will be held in the staff Canteen in the Old Nurses Home at University Hospital Galway on Sunday October 28th running from 3-5pm.
Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust named as part of 2018 GSK Ireland IMPACT Awards shortlist. The GSK IMPACT Awards programme recognises and rewards Ireland’s “unsung healthcare heroes” who make a real difference to health and wellbeing in their locality. Five winners will receive €10,000 funding each, while five runner-up charities receive €2,000 each.
‘Blackrock at sunset’ by Clint Coen is on display in University Hospital Galway (UHG) as part of ‘Passages’ a hospital staff arts initiative by the Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust which introduced art workshops and art installations to the seven hospitals within the Saolta University Health Care Group.
'T H R I V E' by artist Tory Irvine, a contemporary abstract exhibition will launch on the Arts Corridor of University Hospital Galway at 6 pm on Thursday June 7th and will run until Sunday July 1st. Irvine is an abstract artist interested in emotional health. The exhibition features a series of paintings, which are vibrant, expressive & colourful. Working with acrylics on paper, Irvine layers washes and blocks of colour with a spontaneous energy.
