The Board of the Galway and Roscommon University Hospitals Group met in Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe yesterday, Tuesday 21 May. To mark the tenth anniversary of the ‘Poems for Patience’ project, Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust launched a poetry competition in 2013. A new Acute Dialysis Unit with three haemodialysis stations has been officially opened at University Hospital Galway. The unit which has been operational since last November is a clinical necessity for acutely unwell patients of UHG who are now able to have their dialysis on site and will no longer need to be transported to the Dialysis Unit in Merlin Park for treatment as had been the case previously.
