Galway University Hospitals has developed a new Hybrid Endovascular Theatre for the treatment of complex vascular conditions such as aortic aneurysms and chronic limb threatening ischaemia.

Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics in Carndonagh, Buncrana and Stranorlar This Week

Walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics are taking place in Carndonagh, Buncrana and Stranorlar this week to make it as easy as possible for anyone who has yet to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, to get vaccinated.

People who are waiting for their second dose Pfizer vaccine may also attend one of the walk-in clinics, once the interval of 21 days between doses has been reached.

Sligo University Hospital to implement changes to traffic flow

Sligo University Hospital is implementing changes to its traffic flow in order to enhance the patient’s journey when attending hospital and to facilitate ongoing works.

At present traffic backlogs occur to the front of the hospital entrance, leading to cars queuing on the Mall. This can result, in unsafe conditions for  patients and the public.

Galway University Hospitals seek Volunteers for next term of its Patient Council

Galway University Hospitals (GUH) are currently looking for volunteers to be part of the Patient Council for the Hospital. As some members of the current Patient Council are nearing the end of their term we are now seeking new members. The aim of the Patient Council is to work with GUH to identify current and future opportunities to improve the care experience for patients, families and caregivers when using the services of both University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital.

COVID-19 vaccination is available to children aged 5 to 15 to give them protection against serious COVID-19 illness.

Statement following publication of HIQA Targeted Assurance Review of Gynaecology Services at  LUH

Saolta University Health Care Group has welcomed the publication by the Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA) of its Targeted Assurance Review relating to the gynaecology services in Letterkenny University Hospital.

The targeted assurance review of governance arrangements for gynaecology services at Letterkenny University Hospital was conducted over a six-month period from April to September 2021.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Events This Week

International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day takes place each year on 15 October. As part of this global initiative to recognise, acknowledge and  remember babies who have passed away due to miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, and other causes of infant loss, a number of events are taking place in Saolta hospitals.

Sligo University Hospital will be lighting up in pink and blue on Friday 15 October at 7pm to mark pregnancy and infant loss as part of an international event aimed at raising awareness of the issues affecting families who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or a baby.

The final COVID-19 vaccination clinic will take place in St Columba’s Community Centre, Burtonport on Thursday 14 October between 12.15pm and 5.15pm.
