As we look forward to the International Day of the Midwife on Thursday May 5, the Saolta University Health Care Group is urging all nurses interested in a move into Midwifery to make the change.
Registered nurses interested in training to be a Midwife can now apply for the Higher Diploma in Midwifery, HSE Sponsorship and Recruitment Programme.
Following a review of visiting times at University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital, from today Tuesday 03 May, visitors will be able to access the hospitals during the following times:
Visiting by appointment has been re-introduced at Letterkenny University Hospital, patients may have one visit per day lasting up to 30 minutes.
To make an appointment to visit a patient in a ward area, family members / visitors are asked to contact the ward or unit in advance (before 3pm). Appointments will be staggered across all ward areas each day at 6.30pm, 7.15pm and 8pm.
Imelda May’s Stargazer Selected for ‘Menu of Poems’ for patients and staff of Irish hospitals for Poetry Day Ireland
To celebrate Poetry Day Ireland on Thursday 28 April, a Menu of Poems will be distributed throughout Irish hospital wards, waiting rooms and other healthcare settings for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy. The poetry was selected by Galway poet Rita Ann Higgins, who was asked to include a poem of her own.
The Neonatal Unit at University Hospital Galway has recently upgraded a room which is used by parents who have to travel long distances from home to see their babies who are undergoing intensive care treatment.
BowelScreen, part of the National Screening Service, today announces that Mayo University Hospital (MUH) is now performing colonoscopies on behalf of the programme.
The Sligo Vaccination Centre is moving from the Racecourse location to a temporary vaccination centre in Nazareth House, HSE, Church Hill, Sligo (F91 A243) this week.
The first vaccine clinic will take place in the new centre on Friday 15 April.
Access for visitors to Mayo University Hospital will resume from Monday 11 April.
Access for visitors will be by appointment only. Patients identify who they would like to visit and staff then telephone the nominated support person and offer a time slot.
