The rebuild programme at Letterkenny Hospital is underway involving a number of projects being worked on simultaneously, prioritising key patient areas.
The Outpatient Department was one of the areas damaged by flood waters and Outpatient clinics were relocated to a number of different temporary locations within the hospital and around the town and county.
Last week (Tuesday 26 November), Mayo General Hospital hosted an Antibiotic Awareness Day to promote antibiotic awareness both for the general public and for staff. The event was organised by the hospital’s Infection Control Team who were on hand to answer any questions and to provide information. They also organised an antibiotic awareness quiz with prizes.
The newly upgraded Oncology and Haematology inpatient ward in Sligo Regional Hospital will be officially opened at 3 o'clock this afternoon, Friday 29 November, by broadcaster and publisher Ms Norah Casey in the presence of staff, past patients, patients' families, and fundraisers.

The conference was held in partnership with NUI Galway and hosted more than 140 healthcare leaders from around the country and international guests.
The renowned transplant surgeon, Mr David Hickey, gave a moving, accurate and up to date lecture as guest speaker at Letterkenny General Hospital’s Research Day Symposium last week (Friday 22 November).
Mr Hickey was invited by Mr Charles McManus, Director of Medical Education at Letterkenny General Hospital and Team Physician to the Donegal county footballers, to give a talk on the volunteerism that forms the bedrock for both organ transplantation and grass roots GAA.

Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe (PHB) is introducing a smoke free campus policy on Monday 02 December.
From this date it will no longer be possible to smoke anywhere on the hospital grounds, for example entrances, doorways, walkways, internal roads, car parks, cars, bicycle shelters etc.
