Letterkenny University Hospital is an acute general and maternity hospital delivering a patient-centred, quality-driven focused service and a wide range of diagnostic and support services. LGH is a teaching hospital with links to the National University of Ireland Galway, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Letterkenny Institute of Technology. Undergraduate Nurse, Midwifery, and AHP training and clinical placements are also provided at the hospital along with post graduate Medical and Nursing education.

The Saolta University Health Care Group has now made the independent Review of the Gynaecology Service (with a particular focus on post-menopausal bleeding pathways) at Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) available to patients or families of patients where delays were identified in the provision of their care.

100 days of COVID-19 testing at Letterkenny University Hospital Laboratory

After 100 days of COVID-19 testing in the Laboratory at Letterkenny University Hospital, almost 6,200 samples have been tested with results currently reported within 24 hours of receipt. The laboratory is carrying out testing on swabs taken from patients in the hospital, HSE staff (hospital and community based staff) as well as testing samples taken from members of the public referred to community testing hubs by their GPs in County Donegal.

Visiting restrictions continue at Letterkenny University Hospital

Management at Letterkenny University Hospital is reminding the public that strict visiting restrictions remain in place across the hospital in an effort to protect vulnerable patients and health care staff. Across the hospital visiting is only allowed in end of life circumstances and following discussion with the nursing manger on duty.

In the maternity department, patients are not allowed visitors other than in the following circumstances:
