Letterkenny University Hospital is an acute general and maternity hospital delivering a patient-centred, quality-driven focused service and a wide range of diagnostic and support services. LGH is a teaching hospital with links to the National University of Ireland Galway, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Letterkenny Institute of Technology. Undergraduate Nurse, Midwifery, and AHP training and clinical placements are also provided at the hospital along with post graduate Medical and Nursing education.

COVID-19 vaccines to be administered from the new Vaccination Centre in Burtonport, Donegal

A new COVID-19 vaccination satellite centre in Burtonport, Donegal is opening on Thursday 09 September to serve the communities in West Donegal. The centre is located in St Columba’s Community Centre.

Final COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Carndonagh next week

The final COVID-19 vaccination clinics will take place in Carndonagh Community School next week and anyone who requires a first or second dose vaccine after that will receive vaccine appointments for the LYIT vaccination centre in Letterkenny.

The Emergency Department at Letterkenny University Hospital has been extremely busy this week with higher than average numbers of people attending.

There is ongoing pressure on bed availability in the hospital and we regret that many patients are currently experiencing long waiting times to be admitted from the ED to an acute bed in the hospital.

Health Services in County Donegal are advising on the importance of practising public health behaviours in light of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the North West.

Dr Anthony Breslin, Director of Public Health, HSE North West said, “Numbers are at an upward trend at the moment. People know what they have to do in terms of public health measures. They just need to keep doing it. I’d ask everyone to stay safe and be sensible.
