Physiotherapy Department
Physiotherapy is a health care profession that provides treatment to individuals to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and function throughout life. This includes providing treatment in circumstances where movement and function are compromised by injury, disease, ageing or environmental factors.
The Physiotherapy Department in Sligo General Hospital aims to establish the highest quality service, which is sensitive to the needs of the individual, the hospital and the community. We aim to enable patients to achieve the highest quality of life that their condition allows, by encouraging and educating their own participation in their care management.
The Department enjoys being part of an integrated multidisciplinary team throughout both the hospital and local primary care health service areas.
Following referral to the service, physiotherapists will assess the client history and, through physical examination, arrive at a diagnosis and establish a care management plan.
