Staff in the Saolta University Health Care Group are once again supporting the UNICEF ‘Get a Vaccine, Give a Vaccine’ campaign by getting their flu vaccination. For every member of staff who gets a flu vaccine, Saolta will donate 10 polio vaccines to UNICEF.
This is the fourth year that staff have been supporting UNICEF in this way and last year a total of 45,500 vaccines were donated on behalf of staff in the Saolta Group of hospitals.
Mr Fergal Hickey, Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Deirdre Staunton, Resuscitation Training Officer from Sligo University Hospital have shared their flu experiences in a new video (http://bit.ly/2Pql6Wa) aimed at promoting the uptake of the flu vaccine among healthcare workers.
Members of the Connacht rugby squad joined staff from the Saolta University Health Care Group and HSE to launch the Group's flu vaccine campaign at University Hospital Galway on 28 September. This year, the Saolta Group and the HSE are particularly requesting health care workers to get the vaccine to protect themselves, their families and their patients.
