Eligibility criteria relevant to the post: Relevant Consultant experience and active specialist registration with the Irish Medical Council is essential at time of application.

North West Hospice is an integrated specialist palliative care service comprising of an Inpatient unit (7 beds), a Hospital team (Sligo University Hospital), and community based palliative care services (covering Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal and West Cavan). The Hospice is co-located on the Sligo University Hospital campus.  We are seeking a locum Palliative Medicine consultant to join the 2 current Consultants in providing care across the 3 services and including an on call commitment. This locum positon will continue until the successful recruitment of the approved third consultant post. The job will rotate through inpatient, Hospital and community services. A new 12 single room inpatient unit will be opened in Quarter 3 2025. The addition of a third consultant will support these new 5 inpatient beds and also development of ambulatory clinics in our community  and Hospital services.
