HSE CEO Paul Reid in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon
Today, (Tuesday 31 May 2022), sees the start of a two day visit by HSE CEO Paul Reid to services and colleagues in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
The aim of these visits and meetings is to see first-hand the work being carried out by HSE staff working in services like Sláintecare Healthy Communities and, to see how Enhanced Community Care (ECC) planning is progressing. It is also a chance for the CEO to recommence meeting with staff across the country, an activity that was curtailed by the pandemic.
Paul Reid will visit Portuincula University Hospital in Ballinasloe where he will meet with staff across a range of services such as the heart failure programme and Quality and Safety, as well as visiting Loughrea and Tuam Primary Care Centres, followed by an online meeting with local political representatives.
On Wednesday, the CEO will go to Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar Primary Care Centre, Regari Recovery College and Roscommon University Hospital Campus.
Speaking about this trip, the CEO said, “I’m delighted to be here to meet staff in counties Galway, Mayo and Roscommon, to hear about the great work that is happening and being implemented by Saolta Hospital Group and Community Healthcare West. I’m particularly interested in seeing how The Integrated Care Programme (ICPOP) in Castlebar and Loughrea is enhancing the lives of the people we care for and talking to staff who are managing chronic disease programmes and running incontinence, heart failure, mental health and radiography services. Mayo’s Living Well, Social Prescribing and mental health services are working hard to provide people with support to self-manage long term chronic conditions, and in turn, support them to stay well and out of hospital.
“Meeting staff and hearing the innovative ways they are working to benefit the lives of patients is a great way for me to get first hand feedback and an opportunity to thank them for all their hard work over the last few years. Despite the interruption the pandemic caused, staff have progressed development of services that will benefit all. I look forward to visiting many more colleagues and patients in other parts of the country throughout the summer.”
