- In 1995 Mayo University Hospital established a Renal Dialysis Unit as a satellite unit of Galway University Hospital
- In 2014 the Renal Dialysis Unit was completely refurbished and incorporates State-of-the-Art facilities
- The unit currently caters for 70 patients covering counties Mayo, Sligo and Roscommon
- Prior to this, patients were travelling in excess of 200 miles 3 times a week for treatment
- Mayo University Hospital’s Renal Dialysis Unit offers a State-of-the-Art treatment facility for patients close to their homes, enabling a better quality of life and better patient outcomes
