Saolta Arts presents ‘Knocknacarra : Sale Agreed’, an exhibition by Hilary Morley
Saolta Arts (formerly Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust) presents ‘Knocknacarra : Sale Agreed’, an exhibition by Hilary Morley on the Arts Corridor of University Hospital Galway which will be on display until June 30 2019. Fergal McGrath, General Manager of the Town Hall Theatre, Galway, will officially open the exhibition on Thursday May 16 at 6.00 pm.
Hilary Morley lives in West Galway, a wild landscape which has fallen victim to a wave of repeated house styles, commercial parks and roadways. However, its proximity to the sea, the traditional farmland and exquisite light, makes it a very special place to live. She reflects this in her paintings, drawings and collage.
After a career in retail and arts administration, Hilary returned to college and graduated with a BA in Fine Art in 2015 and is now a member of Engage Art Studios, Galway. She is also a professional applied art curator, specialising in multi-disciplinary mixed-media shows, % for Art and the exhibition of ceramics.
Margaret Flannery, Arts Director said, “We are delighted to present the work of Hilary Morley on the arts corridor of University Hospital Galway. Hilary’s work is uniquely accessible and the theme will resonate with many patients, staff and visitors. The artworks bring the outside world into the hospital environment; familiar scenes from neighbouring Knocknacarra are presented in exquisitely detailed drawings, colourful paintings and novel collage. Suburban scenes juxtaposed with the rugged rural landscape while presented in an innovative and fun way, give the viewer something to think about.”

About the charity: Saolta Arts
For ten years, as Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust, we provided an Arts and Health programme to promote wellbeing and improve the hospital experience at Galway’s public hospitals. As Saolta Arts, we shall continue to nurture the discovery and development of creative potential, encourage new ways of seeing, and stimulate fresh dialogue across 5 counties – making the hospital a place of possibilities. Saolta Arts runs the west of Ireland's leading Arts and Health programme as a means of improving the hospital experience for patients, staff and visitors. We believe access to the arts promotes well-being and enhances the hospital environment. The charity brings live art experiences to the bedside of patients as well as to visitors and staff of the hospital as a means of improving the hospital experience for all. Our programme is supported by the HSE, Arts Council, Creative Ireland, Galway City Council, Galway County Council, Galway 2020 and fundraising activities.
