Roscommon University Hospital to celebrate 80th Anniversary

Roscommon University Hospital is delighted to announce that later this year we will be celebrating our 80th Anniversary.

As part of the celebrations to mark this momentous milestone of delivering healthcare to Roscommon and the surrounding counties, we are inviting former and current staff, patients and members of the wider community to share with us stories, memories and photos of the hospital from the past 80 years.

New Volunteers’ Booth at Mayo University Hospital

Mayo University Hospital (MUH) is delighted to officially launch its new volunteers’ booth donated by Baxter Healthcare in recognition of the hard work and dedication of the hospital staff throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vaccinations for ages 16 and above.

Dose 1 vaccinations only. If you attend the walk-in clinic for dose 1, we'll send you an appointment for your second dose by text message to your phone. Your second dose will be arranged at a vaccination centre near your home address, but you can change the location if you wish.

Change of Visiting Times at University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital

University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital are introducing new visiting times from Tuesday 03 August. From this date, the hospitals will be facilitating one visitor per patient each day between 6pm and 8pm. Visits must be arranged by family members/visitors in advance by contacting the relevant ward or Unit.

The Emergency Department at Portiuncula University Hospital is extremely busy with higher than average numbers of people attending.

There is ongoing pressure on bed availability in the hospital and we regret that many patients are currently experiencing long waiting times to be admitted from the ED to an acute bed in the hospital.

Health Services in Sligo/Leitrim Advise on the Importance of Public Health Measures in Light of Increase in Cases

Health Services in Counties Sligo and Leitrim are advising on the importance of practising public health behaviours in light of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the North West.

Dr Anthony Breslin, Director of Public Health, HSE North West said, “Numbers are at an upward trend at the moment. People know what they have to do in terms of public health measures. They just need to keep doing it. I’d ask everyone to stay safe and be sensible.
