Notice of road works and diversions at University Hospital Galway
In order to facilitate ongoing construction at University Hospital Galway a section of the through road in the hospital will be closed from 7pm this evening Thursday August 18 to 6am on Friday August 19.
Access to Emergency Department
During this time vehicular access to the Emergency Department is as follows:
- Members of the public accessing the Emergency Department by vehicle must enter the hospital through the REAR GATE, off the Browne Roundabout and follow the route to the Emergency Department.
- A second access route via the gate at the Mass Path (Newcastle Avenue) will also be open throughout the period of works.
- There will be NO vehicular access to the Emergency Department from the Newcastle Road / University Road main front gate route.
- Staff will be on duty at the roadworks throughout the during of the closure, to assist and advise the public. Directional signage will also be in place.
Other Traffic
During the impacted hours between 7pm this evening and 6am tomorrow morning, no traffic can use the hospital grounds to travel to Newcastle Road (front gate) from the Browne Roundabout (rear gate) or vice versa.
