Booster Vaccines for 12 to 15 year olds at Ballybrit Vaccination Centre

Booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine are now available for those eligible aged 12 years and over at Ballybrit Vaccination Centre by booking their own appointment in advance or by coming to a walk-in clinic.

Walk-in clinics for those aged 12 and older are taking place on:

  • Saturday 12 March - 8.30am to 5pm
  • Monday 14 March – 8am to 5pm

World Kidney Day which takes place on 10 March marks a global campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of our kidneys and encourages everyone worldwide to be aware of the disease and actively know what their own kidney health measures are.

Visiting Access Limited at Roscommon University Hospital

Due to an outbreak of COVID-19, access for visitors to inpatient wards at Roscommon University Hospital is currently limited to compassionate grounds only and these visits should be arranged in advance with the nurse in charge on the relevant ward. The contact numbers for the wards are as follows:

  • St Bridget’s Ward - 090 6632214/15
  • St Teresa’s Ward - 090 6632253/30
  • St Coman’s Ward - 090 6632223/25

Visiting Restriction at Sligo University Hospital

Due to outbreaks of COVID-19 at the hospital along with a high number of cases in the community, visiting restriction have been put in place at Sligo University Hospital from Monday 28 February.

The hospital is currently dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks impacting a number of wards. Visiting to the affected wards will be facilitated on compassionate grounds, on an exceptional basis only. To arrange a visit on compassionate grounds, please contact the ward manager in advance.

Long wait times at the Emergency Department in Letterkenny University Hospital

Letterkenny University Hospital would like to apologise for the significant delays being experienced by patients who are waiting to be admitted to a bed on a ward.

The hospital continues to be impacted by COVID-19. As of 8pm last night there were 25 patients with COVID-19 being treated in hospital and four wards are closed due to outbreaks.

Call the Midwife: Applications open for nurses to move into Midwifery

The Saolta University Health Care Group is calling on all nurses who are interested in a move into Midwifery.

Registered nurses interested in training to be a Midwife can now apply for the Higher Diploma in Midwifery, HSE Sponsorship and Recruitment Programme.

The Higher Diploma in Midwifery is a full time 18-month programme delivered in University Hospital Galway and NUI Galway.

Long wait times at the Emergency Department in University Hospital Galway

University Hospital Galway would like to apologise for the significant delays being experienced by patients who are waiting to be admitted to a bed on a ward. There are currently 70 patients on trolleys in the Emergency Department, Acute Surgical Assessment Unit and Acute Medical Unit.
