A number of patients who have recently attended University Hospital Galway have notified Management of the hospital that they received a letter by post from an organisation called “The Anglo American Lottery”. This correspondence states that person they are writing to has won a European Hospital Patient Lottery administered by Anglo American Lottery.

We have followed up with the patients and the Data Protection Commissioner has been advised and the issue is being investigated.

The hospital would like to strongly stress to patients and their families that it has absolutely no association with or knowledge of this company and would urge patients not to reply with any personal details and forward a copy of the letter to the hospital by post to, Information Services Manager, University Hospital Galway, Newcastle Road, Galway, H91 YR71 or email Information.guh@hse.ie
