Sligo University Hospital win prestigious Pakman Award for Waste Management

Portiuncula University Hospital’s Bernie McGuire received the Unsung Hero award across the six hospitals in the Group.

Sligo University Hospital (SUH) was named as the 2017 Winners of the prestigious Pakman award for Food Waste Management sponsored by Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment at the third annual Pakman awards ceremony, which took place in Dublin recently.

Statement on outpatient cancellations in SUH & LUH - weather

Adverse weather Ireland

Due to the weather warnings issued by Met Eireann directly related to storm Ophelia, all outpatient appointments in Sligo University Hospital and Letterkenny University Hospital are cancelled for Monday 16th October.

Patients are advised not to travel to the hospitals unless absolutely necessary. We will be in contact with this group of patients to reschedule their appointment as quickly as possible.

Red weather warning for Galway and Mayo health services

Weather alert notice

Due to the weather warnings issued by Met Eireann directly related to storm Ophelia, the Saolta University Health Care Group is cancelling all outpatient appointments in University Hospital Galway, Merlin Park University Hospital, Portiuncula University Hospital and Mayo University Hospital on Monday 16th October. 

Patients are advised not to travel to the hospitals unless absolutely necessary.  The Emergency Departments remain open 24/7.

Launch of flu vaccine campaign for healthcare staff

The Saolta University Health Care Group and HSE Community Healthcare Organisation CHO 2 (Galway, Mayo and Roscommon) together with the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences NUI Galway, today (Oct 4th) launched the flu vaccine campaign at University Hospital Galway. This year the Saolta Group , CHO 2 and NUI Galway are partnering with UNICEF. For every flu vaccine given to staff, 10 polio vaccines will be donated to UNICEF.
