Portiuncula University Hospital welcomes publication of HIQA report following inspection in May 2023

Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH) welcomes the publication by Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA) of its report into its inspection of the Emergency Department, St Joseph’s ward and St Francis’s ward at the hospital. An announced inspection was carried out in PUH on 09 and 10 May 2023, the focus of which was to monitor compliance with the National Standards for Safer Better Healthcare.

Portiuncula University Hospital Pilot new Midwifery Service to Enhance Postnatal Care

A new pilot service, which will further enhance midwifery care, has been launched by the Maternity Department at Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH). The pilot will offer postnatal clinic appointments to all women on day five and day ten after their baby is born.

This is in addition to the service currently being provided by GPs and Public Health Nursing.

Portiuncula University Hospital Officially Opens New 12 Bed Ward

Portiuncula University Hospital has officially opened the Dunlo Ward today, Monday, 18 September, a new 12 bed ward comprising of eight single ensuite rooms and two double ensuite rooms.

The additional beds was part of the capital funding from the HSE 2020 Capital Plan, costing in excess of €5m for the design, build and equipping of the ward. 

New Bereavement Room for Parents opens in the Maternity Unit at Portiuncula University Hospital

Portiuncula University Hospital has officially opened a new designated room in the Maternity Unit for bereaved families. The Willow Suite has been designed to provide a protected and comfortable space for parents and their families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss.
