Letterkenny University Hospital is an acute general and maternity hospital delivering a patient-centred, quality-driven focused service and a wide range of diagnostic and support services. LGH is a teaching hospital with links to the National University of Ireland Galway, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Letterkenny Institute of Technology. Undergraduate Nurse, Midwifery, and AHP training and clinical placements are also provided at the hospital along with post graduate Medical and Nursing education.

Letterkenny University Hospital is delighted to be participating in Magnet4Europe

Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) is delighted be participating in a research project which aims to create a more positive work environment for nurses, with a focus on exemplary nursing practice. LUH is one of 67 hospitals across Europe participating in the Magnet4Europe project, it is an international programme designed to create a culture of excellence, and by doing so, improve the health and wellbeing of nurses in their workplace.

Letterkenny University Hospital win national health and safety award

The Health and Safety team in Letterkenny University Hospital are delighted to have won a national Health and Safety Excellence Award for their work on internal audit.

The awards, which took place in March recognise and reward the most outstanding health and safety achievements in Ireland under twenty categories. LUH were winners in the healthcare category and the team celebrated their success with an event in the hospital last week.

Severe Asthma Clinic in Letterkenny University Hospital transforming lives of patients

The Severe Asthma Clinic in Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) which is changing the lives of people with the condition, has featured on a RTE television show into hospital innovations.

The LUH run clinic offers novel therapeutics and treatment for people in the region suffering from severe asthma. The treatment involves an injectable biological infusion which dramatically reduces the symptoms of the condition in some patients.

Letterkenny University Hospital is extremely busy today

The Emergency Department (ED) at Letterkenny University Hospital has been extremely busy over the past few days with high numbers of people attending. Yesterday saw 195 attendances at the Emergency Department with 186 attending on Tuesday, May 2nd.

Letterkenny University Hospital welcomes publication of HIQA report following inspection

Letterkenny University Hospital welcomes the publication by Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA) of its report into its inspection of three areas at Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH). An announced inspection was carried out at the hospital on the 16th and 17th of November 2022. The areas assessed were the Emergency Department, Medical 2 Ward and the Gynaecology Ward.
