Following the upgrade of the weather warning last night by Met Eireann to Status Red for the entire country today (Thursday March 1st), Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) is now cancelling routine Day Surgery and outpatient appointments today and tomorrow (Friday 2nd).
The 3rd Saolta University Health Care Group Staff Recognition Awards took place recently in the Ardilaun Hotel Galway and Letterkenny University Hospital was presented with two awards at the event, the e-Rostering project at LUH won the Non-clinical Innovation award and the Breast Unit at LUH won the Patient Experience award.
Due to the weather warnings issued by Met Eireann directly related to storm Ophelia, all outpatient appointments in Sligo University Hospital and Letterkenny University Hospital are cancelled for Monday 16th October.
Patients are advised not to travel to the hospitals unless absolutely necessary. We will be in contact with this group of patients to reschedule their appointment as quickly as possible.
Following a submission to the Department of Health in 2016 funding of €900,000 has been granted to upgrade x-ray equipment in four Donegal Community Hospitals; x-ray facilities in Donegal Town, Killybegs, Dungloe and Carndonagh Community Hospitals.
A cross border cardiology service at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry/Londonderry has enabled 27 patients (to date) from County Donegal with a diagnosed ST-Elevation Myocardial infarction condition (heart attack) to receive lifesaving primary Percutaneous Coronary Invention (pPCI Services) treatment.
