Mayo General Hospital hosts a Patient Safety and Quality Symposium
Mayo General Hospital (MGH) is hosting a Patient Safety and Quality Symposium on Thursday 31 July in the GMIT Castlebar Campus.
The symposium will highlight practices and initiatives aimed at improving patient safety and achieving high quality care for patients. The symposium is aimed at health care providers and staff working in hospitals and has attracted delegates from throughout the West/North West Hospitals Group and from hospitals across the country.
The speakers include staff from MGH and invited guests with a wealth of clinical and academic experience who will provide insight and knowledge regarding clinical leadership, understanding a quality agenda, clinical strategy and patient safety.
Catherine Donohoe, Director of Nursing and Midwifery at Mayo General Hospital is one of the organisers of the symposium. She said, "The focus of the symposium is to highlight and demonstrate the commitment that Mayo General has to achieving excellence. We strive for improvements in patient safety and quality of care continuously in line with national clinical programmes and the standards for safer better care.”

The afternoon discussion on “Progressing patient safety in a level 3 hospital” will be facilitated by Dr Michael Shannon, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services HSE. This will focus on how MGH can progress their commitment to quality and patient safety, cumulating in the signing of the Mayo General Hospital Quality and Patient Safety declaration.
