Letterkenny University Hospital is an acute general and maternity hospital delivering a patient-centred, quality-driven focused service and a wide range of diagnostic and support services. LGH is a teaching hospital with links to the National University of Ireland Galway, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Atlantic Technological University Letterkenny. Undergraduate Nurse, Midwifery, and AHP training and clinical placements are also provided at the hospital along with post graduate Medical and Nursing education.

HSE Donegal East Children's Disability Network Team relocates to refurbished facility at Lifford Community Hospital

The HSE is pleased to announce that the Donegal East Children's Disability Network Team (CDNT) has relocated to newly refurbished accommodation at Lifford Community Hospital. The building has been repurposed and refurbished to provide a modern, fit-for-purpose environment that will support the delivery of high-quality services for children, young people and their families across the East Donegal area.

HSE Connecting for Life and Donegal Youth Services launch new BRAVE Programme

BRAVE (Building Resilience, Awareness, Voice and Empathy), which is a suicide alertness programme for young people has been co‑designed with young people from the outset. Young people have guided the content, tone and delivery, making BRAVE a programme created with young people, not simply for them.

HSE Connecting for Life Donegal launch Loneliness Initiative to help support older people stay connected, safe and seen

On Thursday, 10th September, HSE Connecting for Life Donegal, in partnership with An Garda Síochána, An Post and ALONE, are proud to launch a new Loneliness Initiative aimed at supporting older people who may be feeling isolated, disconnected, or alone within their communities.

The launch will take place on Thursday, 10th September from 10am to 12pm in the An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny and coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day and Green Ribbon month.

HSE Recovery in Action event to shine a light on mental health supports across Donegal

A free community event in Letterkenny will bring people together to talk openly about mental health, recovery and local supports available across Donegal.

The free event will take place on Thursday, 17 September 2026, from 5.30pm onwards at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Letterkenny. It is open to everyone aged 18 and over, with no booking required. Refreshments will also be available.

HSE West and North West announce appointment of design team for new Surgical Hub and Ambulatory Oncology Development at Letterkenny University Hospital

HSE West and North West is pleased to announce a design team has been appointed for the new Surgical Hub and Ambulatory Hub Development at Letterkenny University Hospital.

The Design Team led by Architects HLM & Kevin Jackson Architects, will soon commence the design stages of the Ambulatory Hub development which will comprise a Surgical Hub and Ambulatory Oncology at Letterkenny University Hospital.
