HSE Donegal East Children's Disability Network Team relocates to refurbished facility at Lifford Community Hospital
The HSE is pleased to announce that the Donegal East Children's Disability Network Team (CDNT) has relocated to newly refurbished accommodation at Lifford Community Hospital. The building has been repurposed and refurbished to provide a modern, fit-for-purpose environment that will support the delivery of high-quality services for children, young people and their families across the East Donegal area.
Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNTs) provide interdisciplinary health and social care services for children and young people who have complex needs arising from disability, developmental delay or other complex conditions. CDNTs bring together a range of healthcare professionals to work in partnership with children, families and other services to support each child’s development, participation and wellbeing.
This development represents a significant enhancement of local healthcare infrastructure and demonstrates the HSE's ongoing commitment to investing in community-based services. The relocation will provide an improved setting for children’s services to deliver care and support to service users.
Darren Doyle, General Manager, Donegal East Community Healthcare Area said, “We are delighted to see Donegal East Children's Disability Network Team relocate to this newly refurbished facility in Lifford Community Hospital. This investment provides a high-quality environment from which our interdisciplinary team can deliver assessment, intervention and support services for children and young people across East Donegal. It also reflects our ongoing commitment to providing suitable accommodation for children's services within the local community, ensuring that children and families can access the care and support they need in a welcoming and fit-for-purpose setting.”
A family representative for the service said, "The families of East Donegal welcome the opening of the newly refurbished CDNT facilities in Lifford. The facilities have been designed to consider the needs of all and provide a welcoming, safe and bright environment for children and their families. It is fantastic to have the East Donegal CDNT team back in one location."
The HSE would also like to confirm that the Primary Care Physiotherapy Service continues to operate from its existing location within the same building, ensuring continuity of service for patients attending physiotherapy appointments.
As a number of healthcare services now operate from the campus, including Lifford Health Centre, the Donegal East Children’s Disability Network Team and the Primary Care Physiotherapy Department, parking availability on site is limited.
Members of the public are kindly reminded that parking at Lifford Community Hospital is reserved for patients and staff accessing the hospital. Overnight and long-term parking is not permitted, and vehicles should not be left in the hospital car park for extended periods.
The HSE asks all users to respect these arrangements to help ensure that parking spaces remain available for patients and staff who require access to Lifford Community Hospital and its services.
The HSE would like to thank service users, families, local residents and the wider community for their support and cooperation during this transition and looks forward to welcoming children and families to the newly refurbished facility.
