SUH welcomes new Buddy Beds to the Paediatric Unit

Sligo University Hospital (SUH) is delighted to introduce 21 new buddy beds to the Paediatric Department thanks to individual generous donations and a massive fundraising campaign by the local community.

Letterkenny University Hospital Visiting Restrictions Remain in Place This Weekend

Due to ongoing cases of flu, the visiting restrictions at Letterkenny University Hospital will remain in place this weekend (13-15 December).

The hospital is reminding members of the public not to visit the hospital.

New Designated Parking for Older People at Roscommon University Hospital

Roscommon University Hospital in association with the hospital’s Patient Council and Patient Experience Committee have officially unveiled two new designated parking spaces for older people at the hospital.

The car parking spaces are located at the main entrance and will enable older people to park closer to the hospital and allow more convenient access with greater ease.

Official Opening of New Suite of X-Ray Equipment in Roscommon University Hospital

The newly upgraded X-ray suite at Roscommon University Hospital has been officially opened by Tony Canavan, CEO of the Saolta University Health Care Group. The project involved refurbishing the existing two X-ray rooms and an investment of over €465,000 in new digital equipment.

Sligo University Hospital launches unique ‘Little Journey’ app for children

Sligo University Hospital has launched the ‘Little Journey’ virtual reality app to help young children between the ages of 3 and 12, to prepare for surgery and reduce their anxiety in advance of their hospital stay.

The ‘Little Journey’ app provides 360 degree views of all the areas the children will visit at the hospital as well as useful information about anaesthesiology tailored to the age of the child.

Visiting Restrictions to remain in place over the Weekend

The visiting restrictions at Letterkenny University Hospital will remain in place this weekend (06-09 December).

The hospital is reminding members of the public not to visit the hospital.

Seán Murphy, General Manager Letterkenny University Hospital said, “We are appealing to people to cooperate with the visiting restrictions so that we can protect the many very sick patients in the hospital.

Sligo University Hospital was awarded the ‘Golden Hip’ award for excellence in the management of hip fractures at the recent annual Irish Hip Fracture Meeting in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) won Saolta Staff Recognition Awards in two categories at a ceremony in Mayo recently.

The Donegal Clinical Research Academy won the ‘Education and Training Award’ for their emergency abdominal surgery course for students and the ‘Outstanding Employee Award’ was presented to Dolores Devenney who works in phlebotomy services at the hospital.

Endocrinologist at Galway University Hospitals awarded inaugural St Luke’s Medal

Professor Derek O’Keeffe, Consultant Endocrinologist at Galway University Hospitals and Professor of Medical Device Technology at NUI Galway was presented with the inaugural St Luke’s medal by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) at the annual St Luke’s Symposium recently.

The Dermatology Team won the ‘Research Award’ for their work with members of the Traveller Community on the topic of skin health and the ‘Outstanding Employees Award’ was presented to Jackie Wallace and Hilda Harte who work in the Lake Isle Coffee Dock at the hospital.
