RUH Radiology Department need your vote for 2018 MEDRAY Award

The Radiology Department at Roscommon University Hospital is seeking a nomination for the 2018 MEDRAY Award, and need your votes. The Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy (IIRRT) once again have teamed up with MEDRAY Imaging Systems to the MEDRAY Award  to a Radiographer / Radiation Therapist / Radiology Department who deals with many difficult and challenging tasks while in practice. There are occasions where staff go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that their patients and clients receive the utmost of special care and attention and the MEDRAY award acknowledges this.

Mary Garvey, General Manger, Roscommon University Hospital, said, “Resulting in patient recognition of the Radiology Department here in the hospital, we decided to seek a nomination for the MEDRAY award.  It is the first year that Roscommon University Hospital has sought a nomination for this award and it would be lovely to see the commitment and dedication of all the staff within the department recognised.”

Nominations can be made by members of the public, Radiographers / Radiation Therapists or other clinical staff, by completing the nomination form online. All nominations received by 31 March will be reviewed by a panel of judges for the short listing process.

Short listing process

Department Award: Each nomination will be reviewed and three departments will be shortlisted in each category. An online voting system will be opened for a six week period 15th  August to 30th September  whereby the public will be allowed to vote for their favourite department. Several site visits will also be carried out prior to this period to assess each nominated Department. The winner will be decided by combining the results of the public vote (30%) and site visits (70%).

Radiographer/Radiation Therapist Award: Each short-listed Radiographer/ Radiation Therapist will be contacted and asked to provide the Panel of Judges with a copy of their up to date CPD portfolio for the previous 24 months. Portfolios will then be reviewed and scored together with the nomination received according to a predefined scoring scheme. The nominee with the highest score will be judged to be the winner of the award.

The Medray awards will be presented at the annual IIRRT conference in October.
