Galway University Hospitals to hold Stoma Care information evening

Galway University Hospitals Stoma Care Unit will hold their annual free public information meeting for anyone who has had or is contemplating stoma surgery on 31 May in Clayton Hotel, Galway from 6pm to 9pm. Family members, friends and carers are also welcome to attend. 

Entitled “A stoma in your life “, the evening will focus on quality of life issues and looking together at positive influences on living with a stoma. 

Clinical Nurse specialists from Galway University Hospitals and Portiuncula University Hospital will be in attendance and will be talking about improving quality of life for Ostomy patients, discussing abdominal core exercises and some people will be sharing their individual experiences. 

Clinical Nurse Specialist Mary Quigley, says, “During the evening, there will be informative talks, exhibit stands for new ostomy products like, swimwear, underwear and support garments.  There will be an opportunity for those attending to also to speak to the clinical nurse specialists on a one-to-one basis. Refreshments will be served and there will be lots of spot prizes. It’s a free public meeting and all are welcome to attend.”
