BreastCheck now inviting women in Mayo for screening
From Wednesday 11 March 2026, BreastCheck will be providing breast screening at a mobile screening unit on the grounds of Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, Co Mayo. Women in Mayo are starting to receive their screening appointment letters, and BreastCheck is encouraging all women who get an invite to attend their appointment, or contact their BreastCheck unit if they can’t attend.
Women can check they are registered at www.hse.ie/breastcheck and update their contact details if they have moved or changed their phone number. This helps BreastCheck to contact women about their appointment.
The mobile unit will remain in Castlebar until all eligible women in the area who are on the BreastCheck register have been invited.
BreastCheck is a screening service for women aged 50-69 who do not have symptoms of breast cancer. If a person has any concerns or symptoms concerning their breast health, they should not wait for or attend screening and should instead contact their GP who will give them the appropriate advice.
