Galway University Hospital will hold its sixth annual Ecumenical Memorial Service on Thursday 20 October at 7.00 pm in the staff canteen, Nurses Home, University Hospital Galway.
The service is organised by the End of Life Care Committee. The service will be lead by Rev. Helen Freeburn, United Methodist & Presbyterian Church and the homily will be delivered by Mr. Ray Gately, Chaplain, Merlin Park University Hospital. The choir will comprise of hospital staff.
As part of the delivery of the Saolta Healthy Ireland Implementation Plan 2015-2017, the group has developed a new resource to support the health and wellbeing of staff and patients and build capacity to implement health and wellbeing activity.
Members of the Connacht rugby squad joined staff from the Saolta University Health Care Group and HSE to launch the Group's flu vaccine campaign at University Hospital Galway on 28 September. The Butterfly Scheme allows people with temporary confusion, memory loss and dementia to make this fact clear to hospital staff and provides staff with practical training to offer a simple, five-point, targeted response to meet their needs.

Galway University Hospitals Stoma Care Unit is holding a free public information meeting for anyone who has had stoma surgery on September 21st next at 6.30pm in the Ardilaun Hotel, Galway. Family, friends and carers are also welcome to attend.
Entitled “Living with a stoma“, the evening will focus on quality of life issues and looking at positive influences on living with a stoma.
World Sepsis Day (WSD) saw initiatives in all hospitals across the Saolta University Health Care Group to promote sepsis awareness amongst hospital staff, patients, relatives and members of the public.
WSD was marked this year across all hospitals in the Saolta Group and the improvements made in sepsis identification and treatment throughout the hospitals were highlighted for patients and staff.
