Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH) has appealed to families and loved ones to play their part in helping to prevent the spread of infections to vulnerable patients. The hospital has reminded the public of the need to ensure that visitor numbers are kept to a minimum.

Portiuncula University Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Leanne Norton as a Bereavement Support Midwife for the hospital. Leanne has extensive clinical expertise and has experience of counselling with regard to non-complex bereavement issues.

Reduction in number of visitors to Portiuncula University Hospital can help protect vulnerable patients

Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH) has asked families and loved ones of inpatients at the hospital to ensure that numbers of visitors are kept to a minimum in order to minimise the exposure of vulnerable patients to viruses.

The hospital has also reminded visitors that mask wearing is mandatory in all areas of the hospital. This is to protect patients and staff.

New Patient Advocacy and Liaison Service Coordinator for Portiuncula University Hospital

Portiuncula University Hospital is delighted to announce the appointment of Sharon Donoghue to the role of Patient Advocacy and Liaison Service (PALS) Coordinator.  

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service Co-ordinator acts as the main contact between patients, their families, carers and the hospital. They ensure that the patient voice is heard either through the patient directly or through a nominated representative.

Portiuncula University Hospital Offers Advice and Support for National Breastfeeding Week

National Breastfeeding Week runs from 01-07 October and it’s a great opportunity to promote the importance of breastfeeding and the many positive health benefits it provides for both mother and baby. It’s also an opportunity to provide information on breastfeeding supports and to let parents and parents-to-be know where they can access this information and support.
