Unfortunately our online payment system is not working at the moment, however there are a number of other ways to make a payment and these are listed below. 

Paying Your Patient Invoice

All hospitals are required to charge for their services, in accordance with Department of Health guidelines. There are a number of ways you can pay your patient invoice:

You can also pay by cheque. Cheques should be made payable to the Health Service Executive. You can pay your bill by cheque in person or you can post it to the relevant hospital.

Please write the patient’s hospital number and invoice number on the back of the cheque and complete the remittance slip attached to the invoice.

Charges for multi occupancy and single occupancy accommodation are recoverable from the following insurance schemes:

  • VHI
  • Laya Healthcare
  • Irish Life Health Insurance.
  • ESB Staff Medical Provident Fund
  • Garda Medical Aid
  • Prison Officers Medical Aid

If you are a private patient, we can send your bill directly to the relevant health insurance company.  To do this when you are admitted to the hospital you must complete both of the following forms:

  • a private insurance patient (PIP) form
  • an insurance claim form for the relevant insurance company

 

Please check what your plan covers you for your hospital stay and the treatment being sought in your chosen hospital.

Please note: Using your Health Insurance Cover does not affect your premium rate

EU residents visiting Ireland are not liable for the statutory charges on presentation of a valid current, EHIC card.

 

Non-EU Resident Visitors:

Non-EU patients admitted to the hospital must pay the full economic cost of their treatment on discharge. You should contact your insurance provider to confirm that you are covered. If you are, please ask your insurance company to email or fax a "declaration of cover" letter to the patient accounts department.

  • Statutory Charge of €80 also applies to the above per night up to a maximum of ten nights.

 

Road Traffic Accidents Cases:

The Health (Amendment) Act 1986 requires the hospital to levy the following charges upon a person who has been involved in a Road Traffic Accident (RTA).

  • Maximum statutory charges payable in a rolling twelve month period is €800
  • If a patient chooses to be treated privately, accommodation charges will apply in addition to the above RTA

 

Statutory Charge Exemptions:

  • Public Medical Card holders (on proof of valid current medical card).
  • Members of the defence forces and their dependants (written confirmation required).
  • Persons receiving services in respect of prescribed infectious diseases.
  • Temporary visitors to Ireland from another EU Country on presentation of an EHIC Card are entitled to hospital services as a public patient without charge.
  • GP referral letters  exempt you from The Emergency Department Charge of €100 only.
