Staff of Sligo University Hospital delighted to see the commencement of COVID-19 vaccination programme on site

Mary Meade, Staff Midwife, Maternity Ward at Sligo University Hospital (SUH) who was the first staff member to receive the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in Sligo with Catherine Greaney, Staff Nurse.

The roll-out of the COVID 19 vaccination campaign began in Sligo University Hospital today, Wednesday January 6th. Mary Meade was the first staff member in the hospital to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine. Mary received the vaccine from her nursing colleague Catherine Greaney.

Letterkenny University Hospital administers its first dose of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine

The roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign began in Letterkenny University Hospital today, Wednesday January 6th. Lorraine Guthrie, Clinical Nurse Manager 2 from Medical 5 was the first staff member in the hospital to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine. Lorraine received the vaccine from her nursing colleague Virginia Murray.

The roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign began in Mayo University Hospital today, Wednesday January 6th. Mary Neary Clinical Nurse Manager 2 on C Ward was the first staff member in the hospital to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine.

Deferral of inpatient, day surgery and outpatient appointments at GUH

Galway University Hospitals (University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital) are deferring all but very urgent and time critical inpatient and day surgery from tomorrow January 5th. Outpatient clinics will also be cancelled however some of these will take place virtually unless it is absolutely necessary for patients to be seen.

The new modular Acute Covid Assessment Unit (ACAU) at Mayo University Hospital has been operational since 17 December and to date has treated 137 patients.

Staff in University Hospital Galway were among those who received the first doses of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine administered today, Tuesday December 29th. Lorna Quinn Assistant Director of Nursing and one of the peer vaccinators who will deliver the COVID-19 vaccine to staff based in University Hospital Galway was the first staff member in the hospital and the Saolta Group to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine.
