Sligo University Hospital Garden Club partners with Sligo Leader and the Organic Centre

Sligo University Hospital (SUH) has partnered with Sligo Leader and the Organic Centre to introduce a year-long Garden Project involving some minor gardening work throughout the hospital. This project is part of the hospital’s Green Campus Programme and will focus on increasing biodiversity on the site as well as enhancing outdoor spaces at the hospital.

University Hospital Galway (UHG) has completed the final phase of an innovative clinical trial which reduces the hospitalisation rate for patients living with heart failure.

UHG is first centre to introduce revolutionary nerve blocking probe

University Hospital Galway (UHG) has become the first centre in Ireland to introduce a nerve blocking probe which uses liquid nitrogen to freeze nerves and remove pain post surgery.

The CryoNerve blocking probe delivers liquid nitrogen at a temperature of around -190 degrees from the tip of the device during invasive surgery.

Sligo University Hospital is extremely busy today with long wait times at the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department in Sligo University Hospital (SUH) has been extremely busy over the past few days and the hospital is advising that patients who attend ED for routine and non-urgent treatment will experience very long waiting times. 143 people attended the ED yesterday, Thursday 08 June, resulting in 32 patients admissions.  

As always, people who do require emergency care are encouraged to attend EDs where they will be prioritised.

University Hospital Galway’s Children's Remembrance Day Committee invites Parents to include their Loved Ones in a Special Mass of Remembrance

The Children's Remembrance Day Committee, University Hospital Galway (UHG) is inviting parents and their families who have experienced the death of a child before birth, shortly after birth or at a later stage to remember their loved ones in a special Mass of Remembrance, which will take place on Sunday, 11 June at 2.30pm in Church of Mary Immaculate Queen, Barna, H91C7PK.

Galway University Hospitals to hold free Stoma Care Information Evening

Galway University Hospitals Stoma Care Unit is holding a free public information meeting for anyone who has had or is due to undergo stoma surgery. The event will take place on the 08 June in the Clayton Hotel, Galway from 5pm to 9pm with talks starting at 6pm to 7pm.  Family members, friends and carers are also welcome to attend. 

The event titled ‘A stoma in your life’ will focus on quality of life issues and looking towards positive influences on living with a stoma.

Two new dedicated patient-centred patient roles launched in Mayo University Hospital

Mayo University Hospital (MUH) is delighted to announce two new roles within the hospital which are aimed at improving patient engagement and providing support to patients and their families. Bank holiday weekends and extended good weather usually bring additional pressure on the hospital system and the National Ambulance Service.
