There is currently one whole time permanent vacancy available in Galway University Hospitals.

 

This post is responsible for the operational management and coordination of patient flow and safe, timely egress from the Emergency Department through to inpatient wards and associated assessment units. The role encompasses the oversight of patient pathways across the continuum of care, ensuring effective coordination with inpatient teams, discharge planning services, and community healthcare providers to facilitate timely admissions, discharges, and transitions of care.

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) for Unscheduled Care/Patient Flow will provide operational leadership across a seven-day service, including weekends and unsocial hours, maintaining a visible on-site presence in line with service demands. The post holder will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient flow, support capacity management, and enhance patient safety and quality of care across the organisation.

 

A panel may be created for Assistant Director of Nursing (Patient Flow) for Galway University Hospital from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full time or part time duration may be filled.

Post Specific Related Information 

Demonstrate significant depth and breadth of nursing experience relevant to the post, including substantial clinical experience in an Emergency Department, Acute Assessment Unit or other unscheduled care environment, together with operational leadership and management experience in patient flow, bed management, capacity management and divisional or ward-level operations within an acute hospital setting.
